History:

On the road which curves of Blaye with Saint Savin, halfway between these two

cities, a severe wall does not fail to intrigue the walker, seeming to dissimulate

some mysterious residence to him.

High of three meters, this wall encloses a field of 100 ha: Virou.

Its originality is to occupy the site of an old monastery of the exposed Carmelite friars.

It did not escape the storm caused by the Revolution and on March 5, 1791 it was sold with the public biddings.

Virou will first of all be transformed into property of approval by Jean Delbos and his wife,

then in wine property by its grandson, heir to the field in 1859.

It will remain in the same family until 1919.

Various owners follow one another and maintain its reputation.

In 1984, it still changes hand.

The principal purchaser is the Tari family, Château Giscours, under the impulse of which this vintage finds its second breath and takes part fully in the reputation of the Premières Côtes de

Blaye.

In 1991, Châteaux En Bordeaux takes the control of the property and

ensures maintenance, as well as marketing.

Vineyard:

Surface : 97 hectares

Soil : clay and limestone.

Grape variety:
