Nuits-St-Georges 2022 "Les Damodes" - Domaine Machard de Gramont - Bourgogne Nuits-St-Georges 2022 "Les Damodes" - Domaine Machard de Gramont - Bourgogne

Lovely roundness, a generous wine. Very good tannic structure. Well-balanced with nice length (100% Pinot Noir).

Food pairing:  Roast lamb, rib of beef, duck breast, game, carp stewed in red wine .

Serving temperature: 15-16°C

Tasting notes:

Ruby hue with brown glints.

On the nose there are aromas of strawberry, cherry, blackcurrant and macerated fruits (prune) and underlying smoky notes.

Elegant palate dominated by jammy fruit. Good length on the finish.

Domain:

The Machard de Gramont estate, located in Prissey, a hamlet neighbouring Nuits-Saint-Georges, is a family vineyard managed by Arnaud Machard de Gramont and his two sons Alban and Alexis.

The estate consists of 20 hectares of vineyards, which extend over almost 50 kilometres, from Chenôve, south of Dijon, to Puligny-Montrachet, south of Beaune.

The estate produces over a dozen appellations, the main ones being Aloxe-Corton, Chorey les Beaune, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Pommard, Savigny-Les-Beaune and Puligny-Montrachet.

Vinification:

hand-picked harvest, rigorous selection then long vinification in open wooden vats.

Only a little punching down of the cap followed by maturing in barrel for 18 months.
