Beaune 2022 "Les Epenottes" - Domaine Machard de Gramont - Bourgogne Beaune 2022 "Les Epenottes" - Domaine Machard de Gramont - Bourgogne

Round and generous with notes of licorice and nutmeg (100% Pinot Noir).

Food pairing:  Red meat, fondue, game and cheese...

Serving temperature: 15-17°C

Tasting notes:

The colour is dark, the nose ripe and intense with stewed black fruits, spice and integrated oak.

The palate, full, ripe and rounded, is textured with jammy dark fruits, firm tannins and an earthy, feral quality that give the wine a sense of brooding power and grip.

This is a wine for long term keeping, but can be drunk now!

Domain:

The Machard de Gramont estate, located in Prissey, a hamlet neighbouring Nuits-Saint-Georges, is a family vineyard managed by Arnaud Machard de Gramont and his two sons Alban and Alexis.

The cellar dates from the 11th century and has a superb vaulted ceiling, which gives it a cathedral-like quality.

The estate consists of 20 hectares of vineyards, which extend over almost 50 kilometres, from Chenôve, south of Dijon, to Puligny-Montrachet, south of Beaune.

The estate produces over a dozen appellations, the main ones being Aloxe-Corton, Chorey les Beaune, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Pommard, Savigny-Les-Beaune and Puligny-Montrachet.

Vinification:

Hand-picked harvest, rigorous selection then long vinification in open wooden vats.
